Product of the Week: Hand Stamped Note Cards

Today we'll take a closer look at our Note Cards.  Most of us appreciate the ease and convenience of our electronic age, and maybe it's our daily use of it that makes receiving a card in the mail a special treat.  These cards are made without a specific event in mind and are blank inside.  They are great for sending a little message to someone just to let them know you care, or for including a personal greeting with a special gift.  The styles of our cards vary, mainly because most of them are made by two girls who vary widely in personality.  But that just means we "have it all covered".  From western to 'girly girl', and everything in between, you are sure to find a design that will meet your needs.

Although we occasionaly use stamps from other companies that have an Angel Policy, most of our cards are made with stamps, papers and inks from Stampin' Up!.  Each one is unique and individually stamped, colored and embellished. Although we do not plan to remake any of the designs, some stamps and elements are favorites so they will show up  often.  If there is a design you really want and it has been sold, please contact us to special order a repeat of that card.

Product of the Week: Mother-of-Pearl Stitch Markers

This is the first of a weekly post featuring one of our products.  Today I will tell you a little about our Mother-of-Pearl Stitch Markers.  I know that some people think this shell is greatly over done, as well as being boring, but I like it.  We have used these beads, partnered with a glass dangle on the beginning-of-round marker and accented with gold beads, to make a basic set of stitch markers.  They are simple, but I think they are also elegant.  This picture shows a blue dangle but you'll find a drop down menu showing other colors available when you order.  These are going to be the standard set of markers that we will carry on a regular basis.

Grand Opening Delay

Today was supposed to be "Opening Day" for Shepherd's Song Creations.  Unfortunately we have to change that.  Some of the red tape necessary to running a business, (but outside of our control), is causing the delay.

Our new goal is Wednesday, October 20,2010.  We hope, with great hopes, that if you check back then we will be open.

In the mean time, we are busy at work putting finishing touches on products and are excited about revealing everything.....Looking forward to what our friends and customers will have to say......And generally running around with lots and lots to do!

And a little Destruction.....

We have been very busy around here preparing to open our doors.  A big part of entering this adventure has been making sure we have the right equipment to do the job.  The banes of a spinners existence are second cuts and VM.  Second cuts are........ I think that might have to be another page here, a glossary or something, since I feel a need to explain some of these terms but don't have room in this post.  =)   I'll have to work on that....another time.  Anyway, VM is the grass hay and etc that winds up in the wool and is too tedious to pull out by hand.  So this wonderful piece of equipment was invented to work the fibers loose and allow the VM to fall out.  It is called a picker, and ours arrived last week.  Here it is in action even.

This is making the preparation of wool go much faster.  It really is a necessity for anyone who is preparing raw wool.

Great to have the equipment, but if you don't have a place to put it.........
So there has been a little Destruction going on in order to make room for our operation.
We have an old fifth wheel camper that has been sitting in our yard and being used for 'put it in the camper, for now' storage.  We are cleaning it up, pulling out a bunch of it's trimmings and repurposing it as the studio.

This is one view from inside the camper.  Lots of stuff, most of which just needed to be eliminated.  It had been so long since it was put out there, and we hadn't used it.  Most of it was put there just because I didn't want to deal with making the decision about what to do with it.

Here is the same view once we had cleaned some stuff out and begun removing camper fixtures.  Some of the cupboards/closets will stay and have shelving added, but most of the smaller cupboards, the kitchen counter unit, stove, sink, refrigerator, and etc. is being removed.

It is a little chaotic being in the midst of so many parts of this project at once, but things should settle down in a couple of weeks.  Once this is ready to be the studio, organization will be much easier, and we won't feel so bogged down.

I'm really looking forward to going out there to work, and keeping daily home life a little separate from the business things.  Especially since that means the kitchen table will not be loaded up with wool and everything anymore.  Well......at least not as much or as often as it is now!  =))

Thanks for stopping by,
Happy Fiber!

Under Construction

Shepherd's Song Creations is an old fashioned family run emporium.  Or it will be, as soon as we have everything in order and go public. =)  Our goal is to 'open our doors' on the 15th of October.

What is an 'emporium' you ask?
The New Oxford American Dictionary defines an emporium as "a large retail store selling a wide variety of goods".

Though we won't be very large, we will have a variety of goods.  You can see a small list of what we will offer at the left side of this page.  The 'product' button is the link to the store site.

We hope you will stop in and take a look as soon as we have something for you to see.  And please, come on back here for a visit and a look into the day to day running of Shepherd's Song Creations.
